PRAWN WITH THICK COCONUT MILK / ERAL SOTHY

The past few weeks it has been seafood. Today, is another seafood which is Prawn in Thick Coconut Milk / Eral Sothy.

Without any delays, let us see the ingredient for this dish.


INGREDIENTS
1 kg prawns
2 big onions (sliced)
2 big tomatoes (quartered)
4 green fresh chilies (sliced)
1 thumb size ginger (julienne)
5 cloves garlic (julienne)
2 sprigs curry leaves
2 coconut thick milk
1 coconut thin milk
1 teaspoon turmeric
2 lime juices
Salt to taste

METHOD

1. Clean and devein the prawns. Then add in the lime juice and let it soak. Keep aside.




2. In a wok, add in the second coconut milk, onions, green fresh chilies, ginger, garlic, and turmeric powder. Then on the stove and let is boil.

 

 

 

 3. Now add in the tomatoes, the prawns and the salt to taste. Control the salt here as we have lime juices as well. Let the prawns cooked till the color turn and then add in the thick coconut milk.

 

 

 

 4. Once the thick coconut boil a bit from the side, switch of the stove. Now it is ready to be eaten. Best be eaten with rice or with bread.









SQUID IN THICK GRAVY/ KANAVA PERATAL/SAMBAL

It is another seafood cooking today. It is Squid In Thick Gravy or Kanava Peratal /Sambal.

Without any further delay let us see the ingredients for the Squid In Thick Gravy.


INGREDIENTS
1 kg squid
4 big onions (roughly chopped)
2 big tomatoes (cubed)
1 thumb size ginger (roughly chopped)
5 cloves garlic
5 dry chilies (boiled about 5 minutes)
1/2 cup thick coconut milk
5 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste

METHOD

1. Clean the squid without the skin and cut of the eyes part and keep aside.


2. Blend the dry chilies, ginger, garlic and onions. Make into a smooth paste and keep aside.

 

 


3. Heat up oil in a wok. Now add in the the blended items and cook till the about 10 minutes.

4. Now add in the tomatoes and salt to taste and cook till the tomatoes a soften.

5. Then add in the thick coconut milk and cook till the oil separates like so below.

 

 

6. Add in the squid without the water and mix all gravy completely. Leave for 5 minutes till the squid is cooked. Try not to over cooked the squid too long otherwise it will be rubbery.


7. Now the squid is ready to be eaten. Best with white rice or nasi lemak.
